Mark how wheelchair accessible a local place is

Green, orange or red on one place near you. Someone else plans around it.

2-5 minutes

Why This Matters

Wheelmap ratings flow into OpenStreetMap, so they show up in other apps too. Most places still carry no rating at all, which leaves a wheelchair user guessing before they leave home.

Rate a place near you

Where are you off to next? The cafe, the library, the shop on the corner. Check the door and the space inside while you’re standing there, and rate it on the spot rather than from memory.

Green is step-free, entrance and rooms both. Orange is one small step at the door, about a hand’s width, with most of it still reachable. Red is a step bigger than that, more than one, or rooms you can’t reach.

How to do this

  1. At the place, open wheelmap.org and find it.
  2. Tap it, then pick green, orange or red.
  3. Tap “Add images” for the entrance, shot from the footpath with nobody in it.
  4. Save. No account needed. Done.
